1. last ride of the year

i did my last bike ride of 2011 yesterday, and it was a fantastic way to finish up an amazing year.  looking back at 2011, i accomplished all of my main objectives.  one was to get my category 2 upgrade and the other was to join an elite team (after objective one was complete).  i got my upgrade in april and joined pacc elite team around a month ago.  yesterday’s ride probably could have been one of my most enjoyable rides all year.  the weather was absolutely fantastic; 68 degrees, sunny, and not too much wind.  i set out to do five solid hours at a fast pace with several threshold intervals thrown in to really turn the screws.  i did my intervals early in the ride, and as traffic picked up at the lake, i set the cruise at a solid tempo pace.  to my surprise, i was joined by several friends at different points in the rest of my ride.  i saw (big time reality tv star) levi crocker, whom i haven’t seen on a bike in some time, and made a lap and a half with him.  gary dutschmann made a brief cameo shortly thereafter.  next i ran into mike jung, who just became a dad.  then, in the last few miles of my ride, i ran into doug platz, who was on his way to go brush up on his yahtzee skills for a new years party.  at the end of it all, i did a hair over 100 miles in a little over five hours.  the last few miles were pretty tough, but i was glad to be on my bike a good half of the day.  looking forward to 2012, i’m very excited to be riding for pacc elite and really appreciate the opportunity i’ve been given by our sponsors.  my objectives for 2012?  to be the best teammate i can be… and begin building toward my category one upgrade.
